Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from a Jewish background. The actress is the younger sister of Uria, and has half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County, California when she was seven. Here, they did not have electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the lack of television. Ryder began to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged 12 years old. In 1986 she landed her first role on the big screen in the film Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder was bullied at high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress could bring about change. However, it didn't come to pass. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. She got her break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder kept playing successful roles in various films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
